A View Within

The Collaboration of Two Fiber Artists

Our bodies are constantly changing, aging, and declining. In A View Within, I am creating a body of work that focuses on this process through the interpretation of medical imaging. While my work tends to be abstract, I draw inspiration from concrete passions; traveling, family, career, and continual education in the techniques of fiber art.

Noticing a friend’s MRI and finding it such a beautiful and powerful image, I felt it needed to be expressed in some form. Body imaging provides a powerful statement of what we experience; they become a window into our lives, referencing our pain and joy. I find these images compelling. They tell a story about a friend or loved one, an acquaintance, or just a kind person that has offered their images. Through our works, I want to relate the power, pain and joy life grants us.
